Day 26

Image
Here it is in all its delightful glory - the full jacket design for Avalon ~ The Glastonbury Zine. I hope y'all like it :)

Day 25

Image
I have put in the hours this week and am now in the position to announce that the second draft of Avalon ~ The Glastonbury Zine is now complete. Now it's time for the third and final draft, which in this instance is just proofreading, grammatical tidying up and typesetting the document for publication. What a good start to this cold and drizzly Wednesday morning 🙂

Day 24

Image
Glastonbury's Ancient Oaks ~ Gog and Magog I have been putting in some full-time hours into this zine over the last couple day and its going well. Very well :)

Day 23

Image
Working through the edit and picture layouts of Avalon ~ The Glastonbury Zine, it has become obvious that to keep costs low in the production of the zine I will have to lose a fair few images from the publication. Primarily, the lost images (which could very well be published in further editions of the zine) will be from the miscellaneous Glastonbury photography sections that I had originally planned to separate each of the publication's articles. Escaping this first image cull is the below pic of yours truly collecting water from the Red Spring outside Chalice Well Gardens: The reason for its inclusion? Well, I thought it proved a nice addition to my introduction to the zine. I can promise, that this will be the only pic of me to feature in this first zine so, please, don't let it put you off purchasing a copy or, even better, getting involved with the production of issue 2 of Avalon ~ the Glastonbury Zine...

Day 22

Image
Okay, so time-wise, I am nearly a quarter of the way through this project. Having taken a week off to crack on with another project I am working on, I thought it was time that I had better crack on with Avalon:

Day 13

Image
Glastonbury tor Glastonbury Tor  I am happy to report that the first draft of Avalon ~ the Glastonbury Zine has now been completed :) Next up for me now is to proofread the articles and edit the photography and carry out a little in-page design. I am going to take a rest for the next couple of days though to enjoy the weekend. Catch you all on the other side... :o) Yours Truly Atop Glastonbury Tor

Day 12

Image
A quiet day working on the Avalon zine today. I am going to have some general shots taken around Glastonbury separating some of the articles in the zine and I worked on these today. Here are a few of them to whet your appetite, which, I suppose, is the raison  d'etre for this website: Finally, for today, here is a little behind the scenes pic of ongoing work on the zine:

Day 11

Image
I've been cracking on with this project at a fair pace. But after the first draft has been done  I will have to ease back on its progress to concentrate on another project I have on the go. Still, today I managed to get the first draft of my Chalice Well feature sorted :)

Day 10

Image
Gog and Magog - the ancient Glastonbury oaks Day 10/100 had me sorting out some Gog and MaGog (the ancient Glastonbury oaks) pics for the zine. So far, its been a very productive first 10 days :)

Day 9

Image
Here are a couple of pics that will feature in the first issue of Avalon ~ The Glastonbury Zine. They form part of a short photo galley of images from a past Winter Solstice at Chalice Well Gardens.

Day 8

Image
Would you like to see the cover for the inaugural is of Avalon ~ The Glastonbury Zine? Well here is how it is looking so far. Remember, you have less than 92 days to wait to get a physical copy of the publication in your hands. And if you have content you would like to see printed in Issue 2 of Avalon, get in contact.

Day 6

Image
Worked all day. I have about half of the first article written about the night I spent on Wearyall Hill. All the photos for that feature are ready to go. I have also sorted the images for the photo essay that follows immediately from that first article in the upcoming first issue of Avalon - The Glastonbury Zine Please find a few images from the zine below:

Day 5

Image
Day 5 of my 100 Day Challenge to get a Glastonbury zine up and running sees a new Facebook Page up and running. Feel free to like and follow this page. And if you have any writing, photography or art you would like to share on the page or in the zine itself, please get in touch... I also sorted all the images for the first article that will feature in the zine, and worked out how to follow this first article with a photo essay...

Day 4

Image
Probably the best bench in Glastonbury "Whenever my mind turns to Glastonbury, I always remember the times I spent there atop Wearyall Hill. Once I spent hours on its summit in the freezing snow of a Winter’s solstice, having mistimed the sunrise! Sat there in the complete darkness, I still remember the chill of the night and the shuffling and munching noises of the local sheep, made mysterious in the blackness of the night. The memories of that time are still so fresh that is as though the occasion happened only yesterday..." - snippet from the upcoming issue 1 of Avalon -The Glastonbury zine Despite the nagging of The Soosh,  I managed to get the new Avalon zine website up and running today :)  I have also sorted the imagery that will accompany the article I am writing for the physical Avalon zine, some of which you can see below: I like the images above as I think they illustrate the stark polarities that characterise the human condition. In this instance, people who go ou

Day 3

Image
I have to admit to being a bit lazy yesterday as I did absolutely zero work on Avalon ~ The Glastonbury Zine. My only excuse is that it was a Bank Holiday Monday. I made up for lost time today though with a solid 4 hours of work sorting out imagery and doing a bit of writing for the zine. 97 days to go....
